WAUKESHA, WI— As part of the City's yearlong 125th Anniversary Celebrations, volunteers will spend 125 minutes on Saturday making Waukesha better for the future as part of an Earth Day clean-up, according a news release. As part of the event, 22 teams of volunteers will spread out over 21 City parks and Downtown to pick up trash on from 9 a.m. to 11:05 a.m., totaling 125 minutes. Teams that have signed up for the event include families, local companies, Scout Troops, City leadership class participants, representatives from Carroll University, and more. "We hope to leave our City better for future generations" said Mayor Shawn Reilly. "I want to thank all the volunteers that are working this Saturday and throughout the year on behalf of the City." Saturday's event is also in coordination with National Volunteer Week which is recognized from April 18-24. There will be a display shown as volunteers check-in for the event at Frame Park. The City of Waukesha relies on volunteers to assist with numerous projects, special events, and programs throughout the year. During 2020, most volunteer projects had to be scaled back due to the pandemic.
