SEATTLE — A shooting at a Seattle encampment Thursday left two people hospitalized with serious injuries. According to the Seattle Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire on the 6800 block of 2nd Avenue Southwest, just west of the 1st Avenue South Bridge, around 8:30 a.m.
Witnesses told officers that a man had entered the encampment and opened fire on a car, hitting the man and woman inside, then sped away from the scene in a white Dodge sedan.
According to the Seattle Fire Department, medics rushed a 20-year-old man to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition and a 28-year-old woman in serious condition.
A large police response was still visible in the South Park area late into Thursday morning, with SWAT teams, K9 units and the King County Sheriff's Guardian One helicopter assisting in the search for the suspected shooter.
