Sentara Offers COVID-19 Vaccine At Community Clinics This Weekend

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Sentara plans to vaccinate more than 1,000 people at the Mother of Mercy Free Clinic in Woodbridge on Friday and Saturday. This weekend's event is designed to benefit underserved populations in the area, Sentara said in a news release. The clinics will operate from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 23. On Saturday, April 24, the clinic will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Mother of Mercy Free Clinic is located at 13900 Church Hill Drive in Woodbridge. This weekend, the free clinic will administer the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Spots are available by appointment only. Friday's clinic uses one link to sign up, while Saturday's clinic uses another. Diane Araj Buckley is a pharmacy manager at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center. She is also the event coordinator for this weekend's clinics. "Our mission as an organization is to improve health every day," she said. "This event gets us one step closer to getting back to normal. We want every member of our community to know we care for them and every person should have the opportunity to be vaccinated." "The Mother of Mercy clinic and Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center are trusted healthcare facilities for many of our Hispanic/Latino families," Prince William Health Director Alison Ansher said. "Therefore, by having a vaccination event in partnership with both may encourage those in the Hispanic/Latino community to get vaccinated against COVID." The state is encouraging residents to register for their vaccine online, or use VaccineFinder to locate a coronavirus vaccine clinic near them.
