FREEHOLD, NJ - Two individuals were hospitalized Thursday after their vehicle collided with a vehicle operated by a state trooper, authorities said.
At approximately 12:49 p.m., a New Jersey State Police trooper was traveling Route 33 eastbound responding to an emergency call for service, said Freehold Township Sgt. Joseph Winowski. As the vehicle entered the intersection of Route 9 near Jersey Freeze, it was struck by a vehicle traveling on Route 9 southbound, Winowski said.
The driver and passenger of the other vehicle were transported to a local hospital for evaluation. There were no arrests or serious injuries reported, Winowski said.
According to the Asbury Park Press, the state trooper was not responding to a service call at the time of the incident. There is no ongoing investigation and the area is expected to be cleared shortly, the publication wrote.
