SF Man Charged With Attempted Murder In Highway 101 Shooting

REDWOOD CITY, CA — California Highway Patrol officers arrested a man Thursday in connection with a freeway shooting on northbound Highway 101 near Marsh Road in Redwood City earlier this week. Authorities said Derrick Roberts, a 29-year-old San Francisco resident, confessed to the Monday shooting, which didn't result in any injuries. The CHP didn't specify the nature of the shooting, but Roberts was charged with attempted murder, assault with a firearm, shooting from a motor vehicle and negligent discharge of a firearm. In searching Roberts' car, authorities found three more illegal firearms in addition to the illegal firearm used in the shooting, including an AR-15 assault rifle. He also possessed several hundred rounds of ammunition.
