Description
DOYLESTOWN, PA — After a 2020 hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bucks County Intermediate Unit brought back the Bucks County Reading Olympics for its 27th year.
In 2021, the event was held virtually, with 1,900 students from 96 schools participating, representing all 13 Bucks County public school districts, one career technical center, and 10 non-public schools.
Teams of students from all grade levels are led by teachers and librarians who encourage them to read all 25 book son their list by working through them together and sharing their experiences, interpretations and comprehension.
On the day of the event, a moderator leads the student teams through a set of questions about the books on their lists, with their responses counted and totaled through three rounds.
This year, there were 115 elementary school teams, 46 middle school teams and 17 high school teams.
All teams are awarded ribbons for points earned during the competition.
