ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving a questionable business check, a dog attacking its owners, a man accused of stealing a bike from a back yard, a stolen car part, trespassing and DUIs. Here is information from the latest police reports: Business under investigation A man told police Tuesday that he was hired by the business at 110 W. Park Ave., Suite C, to provide cleaning services. The business provided the victim with a check for the work. The victim was later notified the check was returned because the business' account had been closed. The suspect has not returned phone calls or made any arrangements to pay for the work the victim completed. The case is pending an investigation. Dog bites owner A family in the 800 block of Spring Road called police about 10 p.m. Monday after their own dog attacked them. One of the family members said the dog bit him. Officers were able to place the dog in a crate. It was taken to a veterinarian without any problems. A report was sent to DuPage County Animal Control. Accused of stealing bike Damion Stapleton, 50, of Hillside, was arrested in the 700 block of South York on a charge of felony theft. The incident happened about 4:30 a.m. in the 700 block of South York. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to a police report, Stapleton stole a bicycle and several other items from a back yard. Precious car part stolen A catalytic converter was stolen between April 9 and April 19 from a car in the 500 block of Alexander Boulevard. The metals in converters have become a lot more valuable in the last year. Trespassing A person at Catalano Associates, 105 S. York St. No. 232, told police Wednesday that she was concerned about a person who was at one of the company-owned properties without authorization. She wanted to have him served a no-trespass order. An investigation is pending. A trespassing occurred between March 28 and April 1 in the 300 block of North Myrtle Avenue. An investigation is pending. Combative patient Police responded to a disturbance involving a combative patient about 5:30 p.m. Monday at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road. The victim said the patient spat on the victim and used her head to strike the victim in the stomach. Charges are pending. Left false ID behind A man tried to use another person's credit card information and presented a fictitious identification displaying the victim's name about 5 p.m. Sunday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. The suspect left the fictitious identification when the purchase was denied. The suspect was dropped off and left in a newer model black Range Rover Velar. An investigation is pending. Shoplifting A woman was seen on security footage placing several items in a bag, walking past registers and entering a black Cadillac Escalade about 6:30 a.m. at Mariano's, 678 N. York St. The vehicle was last seen headed south on York Street. She was described as white, 5-foot-9, 160 pounds, having blond hair and wearing a red long sleeve shirt. Stolen license plate A police officer saw an unoccupied car that displayed a stolen dealer's license plate about 3 a.m. Tuesday in a parking lot in the 500 block of West Grand Avenue. The license plate was removed by the officer and placed into evidence. Police pulled over the driver when the car was seen leaving the parking lot. The driver said he recently bought the car and was not aware the license plate was stolen. The plate had been stolen from Muller's Woodfield Acura in Hoffman Estates. Shoplifting A woman was seen on security footage placing several items in a bag, walking past registers and entering a black Cadillac Escalade about 6:30 a.m. at Mariano's, 678 N. York St. The vehicle was last seen headed south on York Street. She was described as white, 5-foot-9, 160 pounds, having blond hair and wearing a red long sleeve shirt. DUI Clevonte A. Holmes, 23, of Bellwood, was arrested about 3 a.m. in the 300 block of St. Charles Road on a charge of DUI. He was released on bond. Lisa M. Ludwig, 60, of Willowbrook, was arrested shortly after midnight Tuesday at York and Schiller on charges of DUI, possession of marijuana by a driver, disobeying a traffic control device and improper lane usage. She was released on bond. Disorderly conduct Ryan Blazinski, 41, of Chicago, was cited about 10 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of West First on a charge of disorderly conduct. He was released on bond. Driving violations Victor Gonzalez Carrillo, 36, of Villa Park, was arrested about 11 p.m. Monday at Lake and Interstate 290 on a warrant and on charges of driving with a revoked license and improper lighting. He was released on bond. Kierrie Murphy, 29, of Hazel Crest, was cited about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday at North and Interstate 290 on charges of obstructing identification, driving with a suspended license, speeding, improper lane usage, failure to signal and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. She was released on bond. Arcadio Morales-Lopez, 23, of Bensenville, was cited about 8 p.m. Wednesday at Spangler and Industrial on charges of driving with a suspended license and speeding. He was released on bond. Everett Dean, 37, of Chicago, was cited shortly before midnight Wednesday at Roosevelt and Butterfield on charges of driving with a suspended license and speeding. He was released on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt.
