Hiring Range: $13.27 - $14.25 per hour. NATURE OF WORK As a member of the Fleet team, the Fleet Laborer performs entry-level unskilled and semi-skilled work in the assistance of fleet maintenance. The individual works in partnership with other employees, departments/divisions, external entities, and the public in delivering effective and exceptional services. Most positions work Monday through Friday, which may also require weekend and evening hours on a regular or occasional basis. The Fleet Laborer is required to perform work in a manner consistent with and exemplary of the Town’s PRIDE philosophies and the Town’s Equal Opportunity Employment policy. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS The Fleet Laborer is assigned specific assignments, job duties, scope, authority, responsibility, roles and requirements as determined by the Town, department, division, and pursuant to laws, regulation and practices. Individuals in this position must be able to successfully perform, be responsible for, and/or assist in the fulfillment of many job functions and duties, with or without reasonable accommodation. The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive: Drive Town-owned vehicles to obtain parts, deliver and pick up vehicles for repair at Town fleet facility and external vendor repair facilities. Perform shop cleaning and maintenance duties. Wash/vacuum vehicles and equipment. Under general supervision, will assist Fleet Mechanics with servicing, troubleshooting and repairing small equipment and vehicles. Assist in rust repair of fleet vehicles, including: washing, grinding, priming and painting. Assist with parts storeroom inventory. Assist with office duties, including data entry, product inventory, and paper document filling. Some work in Excel is required. Ensure the adherence of safe work practices as well as keeping maintenance or work areas safe, clean and free of clutter. Performs related work as required and assigned. Performs oil changes (unsupervised) on small equipment and light duty passenger vehicles. Performs tire repair/replacement (unsupervised) on turf maintenance equipment and light duty vehicles. Perform light duty repair such as belts/lights/batteries and similar, (unsupervised) on turf equipment and light duty vehicles. Unsupervised loading, securement, hauling and unloading of turf equipment, using a car trailer or equipment trailer. OTHER DUTIES Depending on organizational need, additional duties may include the following: The Fleet Laborer position participates in the Shared Fleet Vehicle Program, which requires an annual motor vehicle record check. Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents. Uses all required safety equipment. Performs related duties as established by law/ordinance or reasonably directed by the Town. Assists other Town departments/divisions, as necessary. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND FORMAL TRAINING High school diploma or GED Must be at least 18 years of age At least one year, verifiable, vehicle/equipment maintenance experience (entry level or higher) Previous automotive/mechanical repair experience preferred LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES Must have a current Colorado Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one upon hire, that meets the Town of Windsor’s standards Forklift certified (preferred) CPR/1st Aid certification within three (3) months of employment
