IREDELL COUNTY, NC — A North Carolina man was recently after he was found vacationing at a Myrtle Beach oceanfront resort in a room that was paid for with a bank card that had been reported stolen in Iredell County, authorities said Friday. Leon Junior Johnson, 35, of Rockingham was charged with felony identity theft, Iredell County Sheriff's Office said. The victim reported the ongoing fraudulent charges at the Sea Crest Resort on South Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach to ICSO April 7. "Staff members at the resort verified the victim's financial card had been used at this location to rent a room," ICSO said. "The staff also advised the suspects who had used the financial card were still at the resort." Investigators immediately contacted the Myrtle Beach Police Department, and officers found Johnson was inside the room at the resort. MBPD also confirmed that Johnson was wanted on outstanding felony child support arrest warrants, ICSO said. Johnson was arrested on charges, and Thursday was extradited to Iredell County on the felony identity theft charge. His secured bond was set at $5,000. "The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may occur," ICSO said.
