PHOENIX, AZ — A man was shot and killed after a fight at an apartment complex near the Interstate 17 on-ramp and Maryland Avenue Thursday morning, Phoenix police said. Willie Williams Jr., 39, died in the shooting, which occurred about 11:30 a.m. Thursday, according to police. An unidentified employee of the apartment complex shot Williams, police said. The employee told police Williams assaulted him, police said. No charges have been filed against the apartment employee, according to police. The employee remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said.
