Press release from the Atlanta Police Department: 04/23/2021  Update:  Officers identified the suspect as Roderick Carter. (DOB 3/91) He was charged with Reckless Conduct and was transported to the Fulton County Jail without incident. Officers also obtained a judge approved search warrant for the apartment Mr. Carter fled into before his arrest. During the search warrant, officers recovered the weapon fired by Mr. Carter (A VR-60 model shotgun) as well as two additional firearms. (Smith and Wesson rifle and handgun) All firearms recovered were placed into APD evidence. Nothing further at this time.  Previously Released:  211130637 Preliminary Information: On 4/23/22, around 10:09 am, officers responded to shots fired at the location of 262 Arthur Langford Jr. Place SW. Upon arrival, officers located an armed male suspect with a rifle who was discharging the weapon from a nearby apartment complex. Investigators with the Fugitive unit were already in the area on an unrelated call and observed the suspect flee into one of the apartments. Officers established a perimeter around the location. A short time later, the suspect exited the apartment and surrendered to police. He was taken into custody without further incident. The identification of the suspect and arrest charges are pending at this time. No injuries reported.
