SEASONAL, PART-TIME LANDSCAPE TECHNICIAN Position Title: Seasonal, Part-time Landscape Technician Department: Hubbell Community Management Reports To: Outdoor Operations Supervisor Location: Des Moines, IA Position Summary Seasonal position, Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a one-hour unpaid lunch break. Under the supervision of the Outdoor Operations Supervisor, maintain the landscaping in Homeowner Association community common areas managed by Hubbell Community Management. Activities include planting, trimming, and removing trees, bushes and shrubs, watering sod, pulling weeds and lawn maintenance. Basic landscaping experience or a desire to learn is a plus. Duties and Responsibilities Weeding and maintaining landscape beds and community entry features Planting landscape trees, bushes, shrubs and flowers Minor trimming of trees and bushes Mulching, watering sod Inspect walking trails and general grounds trash pickup Manage prairie vegetation utilizing herbicides, manual removal and trimmer. Maintains cleanliness of the worksite. Other duties as assigned. Special Requirements High school diploma or GED required. Must be able to work under limited supervision and follow standardized practices. Must have the use of a dependable vehicle, a valid Iowa driver’s license and basic insurance covering the vehicle that will be used for work. Mileage reimbursement provided. Ability to frequently walk, kneel, bend, crouch, climb, crawl, pull, etc. to reach items in need of repair or pulling weeds. Tolerance to extremes of hot weather (above 100 degrees) frequently Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally to include but not limited to lifting bags of soil/mulch into truck beds. Lifts exceeding 50 lbs. should be team lifts. Must remain alert at all times. Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines. Excellent customer service skills required, with the ability to handle difficult customers. Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy. Must provide own sunscreen, hat, work boots, and water. Gloves, tools and uniform shirts provided. Must remain alert to perform essential functions.
