Boom/Crane Operator Plant & Tree Nursery

This position is working on an 18-acre Tree and Plant Nursery Loading and Unloading Large Specimen Trees and other Large Landscape Items such as Rocks, Fountains, using a variety of equipment including booms, forklifts, electric carts, etc. Valid driver’s license required. • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • Must be 18 years of age or older • Must have a Valid driver’s license • Typical work week, 8 hours days, Monday through Friday between 7:00 am and 4:30 PM. Weekends may be required March through June. • Must work well with others. • Must be willing to learn and use proper loading techniques to maintain health of nursery stock material. • Knowledge of safe and proper procedures for operating this equipment. • Knowledge of safe and efficient manipulation of boom equipment, boom truck and forklift. • Some manual labor required in prepping tree for loading, or pulling smaller plant material for deliver on electric carts to customer vehicles. • Ability to complete work under time pressures and to maintain composure under high customer activity. • Able to read, write and communicate (speak, hear, and understand) the English language. • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position • Other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements: The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This position will be physically demanding at times. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job. • Regularly lift up to 50 pounds of weight, up to an end height of 48 inches for a distance of up to 10 feet. • Regularly carry weight up to 16 pounds for a distance of up to100 feet. • Regularly push/pull a force up to 25 pounds for up to eight minutes continuously. • Regularly grasp/squeeze equipment or tools with a force up to 40 pounds. • Regularly ascend and descend and frequently climb on/off equipment. • Regularly ascend/descend a step with a height of 28 inches from the floor. • Regularly kneel, bend, squat for extended periods of time. • Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time. • Able to walk on uneven surfaces up to 1 mile. • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet.) • Available to work a 40-hour work week subject to overtime • Able to visually distinguish colors - red, blue, green, yellow; hear and distinguish auditory signals.
