San Marcos, TX Texas State University Grounds Maintenance Workers Job Number: 2021226 Location: San Marcos Department: Campus Recreation Recruitment Type: Open to All Job Type: Full Time Monthly Salary: $2,100 - $2,398 Job Category: Non-Exempt Required Qualifications: Knowledge and demonstrated experience in operating variety of turf and grounds maintenance equipment: reel type mowers, zero turn mowers, push mowers, line trimmers, tractors and paint machines; Ability to communicate verbally and receive instructions that may require duties to be completed individually or as part of a team; Ability to trouble shoot, problem solve and make decisions; Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. alone; Ability to perform strenuous physical duties out of doors in various weather conditions, including walking long distances. Ability to work in inclement weather. Preferred Qualifications: Athletic playing field preparation techniques. Experience in field/grounds chemical application. Non-commercial pesticide license. Skill and experience in field equipment and irrigation maintenance and repair. Knowledge and skill in mixing procedures for applying chemicals and lawn care products on athletic field. Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, prepare work logs and records, perform basic math. Problem solving and decision making. Job Description: Sport Fields maintenance is responsible for maintaining attractive and safe NCAA soccer, Sport Clubs & Intramural athletic fields. This includes mowing, trimming, seeding, top dressing, field set-up (chalking, painting and infield dirt work). Policing for recycling and trash and light repair on equipment and irrigation. Job Duties: Mow and trim grounds. Pick up litter. Fertilize soil. Conduct chemical weed control. Maintain and mark fields. Maintain, service and adjust equipment. Maintain work logs, mileage, equipment manuals and chemical records. Perform other duties as assigned.
