Bass Player Needed

Tinley Park IL
Description
We are a cover band known as Serious-Face. Our fantastic bass player had to leave us due to a nagging health issue and we’re hoping to find someone to fill the void. This is more of a hobby that can earn us a little extra scratch here and there, and not trying to become the next big party band. There is plenty of competition in that realm. We just want to play out a bit, have fun, and make a little money while we’re at it. We rehearse in Tinley Park in the guitarist's basement. We are great musicians and have tons of experience between the three remaining members and have been searching for several weeks now for a new bassist, to no avail. Why is it so hard to find someone? Statistics indicate it’s our set list. We’re told it’s a hard sell or maybe it’s simply not what players want to play. Warning: we do lean heavily toward a “B-side” set as we feel there are plenty of other cover bands that play the Top 40, Top 100, or however you refer to the “hits”. Our set lit isn’t set in stone however, and we hope for a bass player to bring their favorites that we can add and thereby, grow our list. Of course, not every idea is accepted so we move on and try to find more songs we can agree on. It’s not as if our list doesn’t include some ‘fan favorites’ but I guess there are too many others that some people aren’t familiar with and it causes some anxiety when thinking of joining us. Our drummer even said when 'Seratonia' by Highly Suspect was suggested, he stopped listening after the first lyric line. He warmed up to it eventually and we crush that song. I've always said, if we play the songs with energy and pride, as if we wrote them, the crowd feels that and we win them over. In our current list of songs, we do play some well known songs and have a great back to back of Alice in Chains ‘Would?’ and ‘Man In a Box’, we do ‘Pump it Up’-Elvis Costello, ‘This Is a Call’-Foo Fighters, ‘Interstate Love Song’-Stone Temple Pilots, we even do another back to back jam of ‘Burn the House Down’-AJR (see? New!) and ‘Burning Down the House’-Talking Heads…I can send you the full list if you’d like and you’ll see it’s heavier on newer bands or songs that aren’t played 597,263 times a day on the radio. Who listens to the radio anymore anyway? :) Please give us a look/listen, searching Facebook with seriousfacemusic and let us know if you’re interested in a jam, hang out, audition. you can hit me up at swagman at popstar dot com and please provide your contact info. Thank you!!!
