Essential Duties and Responsibilities Set up and operate a variety of machinery to produce sharpened cutlery parts and instruments. Sharpening may include hollow grinding, edging, honing, buffing, and cleaning of various sizes of knives. May also be required to clean and calibrate sharpening machines. Requires standing on both feet for 3 hours at a time. Other duties may be assigned.
Basic Responsibilities
• Work as part of a Line Team, having responsibility maintaining line throughput and quality during the sharpening process.
• Can perform all tasks conducted by the team in the sharpening process, including, but not limited to: Hollow Grinding, Edging, Honing, Buffing, and Cleaning processes.
• Rotate through all sharpening machines rather than being assigned to a specific task on a permanent basis.
• Maintain equipment and materials in a neat, clean and orderly fashion. On a daily basis, complete machine checklist on assigned equipment.
• Efficiently move sharpening trays through the production area.
• Report issues with cutlery and/or knife quality to immediate supervisor.
• Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area.
• Report issues and problems to Management.
• Will support and abide by the company’s safety program and all safety initiatives, policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Must be able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a frequent basis. Must be able to use proper techniques to lift 50 pounds.
• The ability to follow directions with emphasis on safety.
• Must be able to use hands and feet simultaneously and for repetitive movements.
• Must have responsible work habits and pass any pre-employment tests.
• Must pass the drug test and a background check.
