Family Activity: Muster and March

Kids

155 North Beacon Street, Boston MA

Description

In this age of social distancing, we can still muster together while staying apart. The annual Patriots' Day parade is canceled, but we are still marching to commemorate the sacrifices of the farmers and townspeople who rose from their beds at 3 o'clock in the morning to the sound of the ringing town bell and stood against the British Regulars. The Provincial militiamen did not wear uniforms or carry government-issued weapons like their counterparts in the British Regulars, who were referred to as "Red Coats" because of their brightly colored uniforms. Instead, the militiamen distinguished themselves with colorful cockades on their tricorn hats and professionally carved powder horns over their shoulders. Make your own tricorn hat and decorative powder horn. Wear your creations and march to stirring fife and drum music of the Revolutionary War! Send us pictures and videos of your family's march @concordmuseum for a chance to be featured on our social media! 200 Lexington Road Concord, MA 01742
