Christy Bergland, LCPAT, will share her recent exploration of a clinical case study from her work over thirty years ago in this free lecture
Maryland artist and licensed art therapist, Christy Bergland, LCPAT, is pleased to share and contextualize a clinical case within art therapy theory and practice and psychoanalytically oriented treatment utilized at that time, as it was still quite early in the development of the field and art therapy's presence within the psychiatric training hospital where she worked for decades. Using an Object-Relations lens, participants will be guided through the case identifying four distinct phases of psychoanalytically-oriented treatment manifest in art. Contemporary approaches to re/framing the client's challenges and therapeutic progress will then be offered for discussion.
