I thought I would read the politics section of the Chicago craigslist. Pretty interesting responses. Seems like a lot of people are asking the same questions as I am. What is a 13 year old doing running the streets at 2:30am. I have seen this in a myriad of slums in large cities across the USA, children running around on the streets late at night without any adult supervision. That kid's parents should be charged with child neglect and prosecuted. Does any child have a chance if their parents do not seem to care enough to make sure they are at home at night. The old 'geeze I did not know my kid was not in bed' story is pretty lame. 59% of African American males graduate high school. That means 4 out of 10 black male children DO NOT graduate high school! Is there a shortage of schools? No there are plenty of buildings. Shortage of teachers, no seem to be plenty of those also. What is there a shortage of? Parenting skills. Without learning the basic skills, how do these non high school graduates make money? They must make money somehow....do you think this is reflected in crime statistics? I do.
