Description
ORANGETOWN, NY — Over the past year, Orangetown residents have disposed properly of so much unused or expired medications that on Tuesday the Orangetown Police Department was able to haul off more than 500 pounds to a waste facility.
All those medications had been turned in to the Police Department over the past year as part of Orangetown's Operation Medicine Cabinet.
(Orangetown Police Department) The medications were disposed of at an energy-from-waste facility which is an environmentally safe manner that creates clean, renewable electricity, police said on Facebook.
Anyone can do it. Turn in unused, unwanted, and/or expired medications for safe disposal at the Orangetown Police Department, 26 W. Orangeburg Road.
It's a contactless service and it's free and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is also completely anonymous with no questions asked. No needles please.
