Luxor Nursing and Rehab at Sayville on Future Potential Stimulus Checks and More Economic Recovery As the United States is hopefully in the final stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, with vaccines being available for everyone over the age of 16, the federal government is working on a road map to a full economic recovery, and that could include more stimulus payments. Luxor Nursing and Rehab at Sayville has a look at what you might expect over the next year and what savings you might be able to take advantage of. Is a Fourth Stimulus Check Coming? A $1.9 trillion economic recovery package was passed in March, with individuals getting up to $1,400 per person and for dependents as well. The next proposed package down the pipeline is the American Jobs Plan, which will set aside $2 trillion for infrastructure projects like roads, transportation hubs, power grids, high-speed broadband, and affordable housing. The next bill that would be crafted is the American Families Plan. This may or may not come with another direct payment to individuals and families, but it will help with $500 billion in new tax credits. What Will the American Families Bill Do to Help? The March stimulus package expanded the child tax credit, which experts believe will bring nearly five million children above the poverty line. This proposed bill will look to expand that credit through 2025 instead of just being in effect for 2021. The plan would also make child care more affordable through new tax credits and subsidies (along with free prekindergarten instruction for kids ages 3 and 4), and it would also push to make two years of community college free for all adults and high school graduates. Other Potential Savings Down the Road The government is also considering plans to forgive $10,000 of student debt—or higher depending on certain circumstances. A recent report shows that student debt reached $1.7 trillion at the end of 2020, which is more than the nation owes on auto loans or in credit card debt.
