WEST HEMPSTEAD, NY— The Nassau County Police Athletic League (PAL) has revived its youth boxing program after years, and the classes are proving so popular with Long Island parents and kids that more classes will be offered. The PAL"Intro to Boxing" program is a no-contact, boxing skills course for boys and girls ages eight to 18. The preteens and teens learn skills on the heavy bag, speed bag, self-defense and shadow boxing. The eight-week program is held at Kayo Boxing in West Hempstead. Owner Michael Corleone told Patch that the kids are loving the boxing workout. The spring sessions filled up quickly, and parents are already adding their kids to a waiting list. Christopher Innace runs the PAL program and said they will be adding another session, likely this summer and a definite fall session. The classes are held Saturday afternoon and the full program costs $160. The coaches are all USA Boxing certified.
