Description
BEVERLY, MA — The CVS parking lot at the North Beverly Shopping Center will be the city's site for this year's National Medication Disposal Day on Saturday.
The site will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the drop off of old and unneeded medications, vitamins, veterinary medications and narcotics.
Residents are encouraged to dispose of these items properly in order to keep them out of the hands of children and those who might use or sell them improperly. It is not advised that these items be thrown in the trash or flushed down the toilet out of the risk they can find their way into groundwater.
"Sharp" objects are not accepted at the disposal day, along with thermometers, IV bags, bloody or infectious waste, inhalers, hydrogen peroxide and personal care products. Sharps, such as syringes, are accepted at the main entrance of Beverly Hospital and the marked kiosk in the main lobby of the Beverly police station.
Medications can also be disposed of at the Beverly Hospital emergency room lobby and at the Beverly police station 24 hours per day.
The Beverly Health Department and Beverly police are sponsoring the disposal day.
