Celebrate World Labyrinth Day at Spirit in the Desert on Saturday, May 1 with 15-minute guided meditation on the hour from 10:00 a - 8:00 p World Labyrinth Day is an annual event sponsored by The Labyrinth Society as a worldwide action to “walk as one at 1” local time to create a rolling wave of peaceful energy across the globe. Every year on the first Saturday in May thousands of people around the world participate in this moving meditation for world peace and celebration of the labyrinth experience. For more detailed information, please visit worldlabyrinthday.org Spirit in the Desert has a beautiful labyrinth patterned after the famous Labyrinth in the Chartres Cathedral near Paris, a symbol of the Christian pilgrimage. Walking a labyrinth can be a meaningful spiritual practice. Sue Palmer will offer a 15-minute guided meditation on the hour at 10:00 am, 11:00 am, 12:00 pm, 1:00 pm (creating the worldwide rolling wave of peace), 2:00 pm, and again at 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Shelter, water and light snacks will be available. Many ways to participate: Walk Spirit's labyrinth at 1:00 p.m. local time to help create a rolling wave of peace passing from one time zone to the next around the globe.Walk alone or with others observing all applicable health protocols.Build a permanent or temporary labyrinth.Use a finger labyrinth - finger labyrinths are available at Spirit in the Desert's registration desk in the Estrem Center.Create labyrinth art.Spirit's labyrinth is at the back of the property; follow the road to the left around to the back parking lot, look for the tent. Please note there is a silent retreat on campus that day; your understanding of the peace and tranquility desired for their retreat is appreciated. Sue Palmer is a spiritual director, trained and certified through John Carroll University’s Ignatian Spirituality Institute, where she also received training in leading Silent Retreats. She has an MS in Mental Health & Wellness with an emphasis in Grief & Bereavement and has a heart for those experiencing the many griefs and losses that a life well-lived brings. Sue has experience as a Stephen Minister, a hospital Spiritual Care Aid, a divorce support group leader, and a hospice volunteer.Her passions are to help people go deeper in their walk with God and to discover their creative potential. As well as offering Spiritual Direction, Sue is available to lead retreats and workshops on a variety of topics as well as working with you to create one that meets your group’s needs.
