Your Arlington Last Updated: 22 April 2021 Written by ATED. YourArlington UPDATED, April 22: Arlington's annual Patriots Day parade and the reenactment of the ride of Paul Revere and William Dawes was canceled for a second straight year in the light of the pandemic. But virtual celebrations of these events continued, brought to you by the Arlington Committee on Tourism and Economic Development (ATED). Residents and businesses wee invited to celebrate the spirit of Menotomy and Revolutionary War history in fun, safe ways. "The Trivia Challenge was great fun with some tricky questions, a lot of smart answers and lead changes throughout," Tom Davison of ATED told YourArlington. "We had 30 people register for the game and a lot of great feedback from our contestants." The winners were: Jacob Schiller, first place;Adam Deakin, second; andCarla Gates and family. In addition, ATED is donating a "History Plunge" trivia game to Robbins Library, and it includes some of the questions from Arlington's game. "We are hoping to make this a new annual Patriots Day tradition," he said. Residents were invited to show off their knowledge of Colonial history at the online Patriots Day trivia challenge at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 19. The contest, hosted via Zoom, consisted of six rounds of five questions each, focusing on Colonial and local history, including an Arlington-specific round. For the red, white and blue home-decoration contest had lower turnout than expected, partly because of poor weather, so there were no winners.
