STRATFORD, CT — Democrat Stephanie Philips is eyeing a rematch with Republican Mayor Laura Hoydick in the November municipal election, according to the Connecticut Post.
The Post reports Philips is the second Democrat to officially enter the race to challenge Hoydick, joining Immacula Jo Cann who announced her candidacy last month.
Cann's campaign recently said that she raised more than $31,000 in the first two weeks after announcing her candidacy on March 17.
Hoydick defeated Philips in the 2017 election by a vote of 5,738 to 5,126. Petitioning Candidate Sandra Zalik received 688 votes.
Philips told the Post that she won't seek a primary election if she fails to receive the party's endorsement in July.
