Bring your binoculars, or borrow one of ours for this fun hike through the forest behind Lakeside Nature Center, led by two female scientist This event is appropriate for the entire family! Enjoy a guided hike and intro to birding where we will identify common birds in KC and how to spot them in nature. We’ll find and identify native plants and learn about the role of these deep root systems in absorbing and cleaning rainwater. We’ll learn to identify trees by their leaves and bark, and will discover the role that leaves play in absorbing Co2 from the atmosphere. All families will receive a brochure entitled “Explore Kansas City – Your Guide to Nature in our City” that lists backyard nature activities, nature centers, parks and trails in the urban area. Bring your face mask, and wear closed-toe shoes you don’t mind getting dusty or a little muddy.
