MORRISTOWN, NJ — A teen lost control of his vehicle Thursday in Morristown, brushing against a pedestrian and knocking down a sign, police said. The pedestrian reported no pain and refused medical attention. The accident occurred at about 12:15 p.m. on Atno Avenue by Early Street — near Morristown High School. A 16-year-old student driver lost control of his 2019 Jeep Wrangler and drove onto the sidewalk, police said. A 19-year-old man riding an electric scooter saw the jeep coming and jumped out of the way. The Jeep brushed his arm, knocked down a street sign and stopped in a bush on high-school property, according to authorities. The 16-year-old was driving on a legal learner's permit and was properly accompanied by his mother, police said. He received a summons for careless driving. Thanks for reading.
