Press release from the League of Women Voters of Darien: April 22, 2021 The Darien community is invited to the second of two sessions in the online series of civic discussions entitled, The Future of Fairfield County: Darien scheduled for April 22 at 7:00 p.m. While the April 5 session focused on expert presentations on the area's long range economic outlook and environmental sustainability and heard the perspective of a new generation of professionals, the April 22 session will provide an opportunity for Darien residents to share their own expectations about what they envision for Darien in the next decade. The program will be moderated by Stephen Saloom, Director of Advocacy and Capacity Building at the Fairfield County Community Foundation. The 2020 elections may be over, but our questions about voting aren't. Connecticut Secretary of State Denise Merrill provides a detailed explanation of how our state facilitates voter access and protects election integrity—before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. What are the reasons for our existing rules? How did we manage the increase in absentee ballots in our last election? Why should voters trust our system? Secretary Merrill will take us through the different processes, and close with an update on two proposed joint resolutions under consideration in our Legislature that seek to permanently expand access to voting in Connecticut.
