AUSTIN, TX — Austin area residents looking to get their COVID-19 vaccines are in luck this week. Austin Public Health and Central Texas Counties Vaccine Collaborative will offer walk-up vaccines until doses run out without an appointment this weekend. APH will expand its online scheduling and pilot walk-up coronavirus vaccination operations from noon to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday at the Delco Activity Center, 4601 Pecan Brook Drive, in northeast Austin. "We have the vaccine supply and we want to continue to put as many shots in arms as we can," said APH Director Stephanie Hayden-Howard. "As we see a nationwide decline in appointment scheduling, we know we must decrease barriers for individuals to get vaccinated without technological barriers." For these walk-up events, residents 18 years or older can arrive without an appointment. Residents are not required to pre-register in the APH system. However, it is highly encouraged to create an account and pre-register here before arriving at the clinic. If these times and days don't work for you, you can still secure an appointment through APH's website. APH releases vaccine appointments every Monday and Thursday evening. APH expanded its vaccine eligibility to all adults earlier this month. The Central Texas Counties Vaccine Collaborative will be holding a no-appointments-necessary drive-thru clinic from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Circuit of Americas, 9201 Circuit of the Americas Blvd., in Austin. Anyone 16 and up will qualify to get their free, first dose of the Pfizer vaccine. However, ages 16 and 17 will require adult consent with a parent or guardian present. "While there is still a lot of hard work to be done, this weekend will get us one step closer to where anyone who wants a vaccine can get a vaccine," said Travis County Judge Andy Brown. "I remain committed to making certain our hardest-hit populations get their vaccine quickly, efficiently and equitably. If you can make it to COTA this weekend, now is the time to get your vaccine."
