Yardley Sidewalk, Lower Makefield Bike Path Get State Money

YARDLEY, PA — Yardley's sidewalk project on Main Street and a bike path in Lower Makefield are among the 116 projects getting money from a Pennsylvania fund, state officials announced Thursday. In all, the projects are getting $48 million from the Multimodal Transportation Fund devoted to roads, walking and bike trails, rail, traffic safety, public transportation and air transport. In Yardley, the second phase of the Main Street sidewalk project will get $95.000, Gov. Tom Wolf announced. That comes about a week after the project received $300,000 from a separate state grant. Lower Makefield Township is getting $353,000 for the Woodside Road bike path project. The path is planned to run from Makefield Highlands to Taylorsville Road. It will join up with a series of trails that, ultimately, would run across the new Scudder Falls Bridge. "Investing in these critical improvements now will make the lives of our 12.8 million residents —and visitors — easier for years to come," Wolf said. "Pennsylvania is large, diverse, and well traversed, and improving our roadways, bridges, and other infrastructure will ensure smoother, safer, and more accessible transportation options for all who travel within our commonwealth."
