PHILADELPHIA — More than a pound's worth of ecstasy tablets were recently seized by customs officials in Philadelphia earlier this month, federal authorities said. Customs and Border Protection officers in Philadelphia discovered one pound, four ounces — or 565.2 grams — of ecstasy in three international parcels on April 10. Officers discovered the pills in three shipments that arrived from separate addresses in The Netherlands. A field test of the pills proved positive for the properties of 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphatemine (MDMA), commonly known as ecstasy or molly. The shipments were destined to addresses in Chester and Crawford counties in Pennsylvania and to Hillsborough County, Florida. "Customs and Border Protection officers remain steadfast in our commitment to intercepting illicit and dangerous drugs that are shipped to the United States in a multitude of ways, including in express international parcels, before they can hurt our families and our communities," said Keith Fleming, Acting Director of Field Operations for CBP's Baltimore Field Office. CBP seized an average of 3,677 pounds of drugs every day across the United States in 2020.
