MORGAN HILL, CA — A 51-year-old Morgan Hill resident was cited for setting off illegal fireworks earlier this month at Jasper Park. Morgan Hill police announced in a Facebook post Wednesday that they confiscated three boxes of expanded illegal fireworks and cited Victor Saud for possession of fireworks after an April 9 incident. Over the last six months, Morgan Hill residents have complained of fireworks and loud explosions near San Pedro Avenue. Police didn't connect Saud to other incidents, but residents responded positively on Facebook to the news. "Great job MHPD," one person posted. "This annoyance and fire danger has gone on long enough!" Fines for possession of fireworks range from $100 to $1,000, and a criminal conviction could result in a six-month jail sentence. With dry hills and fire season approaching, Morgan Hill Police and Fire are enforcing a "zero tolerance" policy for illegal fireworks and are actively patrolling for violations, according to a news release.
