Description
EL CERRITO and KENSINGTON, CA — The City of El Cerrito and Community of Kensington will conduct a "Community Warning System" alert via cell phones, landlines, text and email May 2, in conjunction with local police and fire departments.
And for those who receive the alerts, do note: This is just a test!
Residents may receive notifictions that Sunday morning 8 a.m. - 8:30 a.m., with references to community alerts and evacuations, officials said.
To "prepare" for the test, ensure registration with Community Warning System by going to www.CoCoCWS.us. CWS calls to cells will display a return number of 925-655-0195. Locals should add to "favorites," so calls or messages are not blocked or filtered as spam.
Families also are advised to prep for possible evacuations with such important items and papers as wallets, phones and pets, that can be quickly grabbed. Go here for more tips on how to prepare in advance.
For those who do not get the TEST evcuation alert by 8:45 a.m., contact CWS on Monday to troubleshoot your registration. The department can be reached via 925-655-0111 (M-F 8-5 pm), via email at [email protected], or by U.S. mail at 1850 Muir Road, Martinez, CA 94553.
Questions also can be directed to El Cerrito Battalion Chief Joe Grupalo at [email protected]
