Handler & Boarding Technician Real World Canine: Canine Daycamp, Boarding and Training Facility Join Real World Canine and play an important role in turning our canine customers into happy, balanced and fulfilled dogs! You will learn great skills such as how to understand what a dog is thinking, what are individual dogs’ motivations (there are many), how do you change a dog’s mindset, etc. You will also learn how to use environment to rehabilitate dogs, including: how to treadmill dogs, how to teach dogs to swim, how to establish safe spaces for dogs, proper feeding, and boarding techniques, etc. Our facility is structured to allow green (dogs with no fear/aggression issues), yellow (dogs with mild fear/aggression issues) and red dogs (dogs strong fear/aggression issues) to experience a fun day camp, while also getting obedience and/or behavior rehabilitation. We do this by having a highly trained and motivated staff, with # certification areas that all employees can achieve. Employee salary progression is determined based on certifications achieved, and demonstration of certification techniques. The better you do the more you earn. As a dog handler and trainer, your initial duties will include: • Hanging out with our great green pack, being compassionate and attentive to the needs of our canine customers, and maintaining a clean, healthy, and comfortable environment for them. • Spoiling our canine customers with treats, belly rubs and kisses. • Making sure that the dogs you are supervising are behaving and playing nicely with other dogs. • Getting instruction and training from our certified trainers on how to address things like rough play, stalking, obsessive behavior, etc., and putting it into practice when needed. • Running doggie treadmills, and pool time. • Developing progress and daycare/boarding report cards. You will also have the ability to advance your status in the company by certifying in multiple boarding, training, and advance handling areas. Prerequisites • Must be 18 years old or older. • Professional dog handling/training experience preferred, but not a must. • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. • Ability to stand, sit, bend, crouch, and stoop repeatedly over an 8 hr period. • Must love dogs. Working hours: • Full Time, Various shifts available including graveyard and weekends. Starting salary range: • $11.00 -$13.00/hour commensurate with experience.
