It is tragic that the 16 year old girl lost her life, but she was in the process of stabbing another person. The office had no choice but to shoot. If the cop had not shot, the perpetrator would have lived and the victim would have died. The perpetrator in this case went to the victims house looking to harm someone. The perpetrator was the one who brandished and tried to use a weapon with deadly force. The perpetrator put herself in danger by her own actions. Despite the tragedy, this cop should be awarded a medal for saving the victims life. This cop protected his community that day. We need to commend cops when they perform well if we are going to criticize them when they fall short.
