Build a platforms step/bumper in my stake body truck

I have a 500 single wheel stake body with a lift gate. I want to remove the lift gate and put an 18 inch deep stepstep/bumper/step.. The lift gate is ok it broke a cable today and I just want a step instead and a hitch The lift is ok but I broke a cable I want this ASAP
