Please read the description below. We are hoping to find someone with some experience but are willing to train the RIGHT person. The job of a termite and pest control technician is to inspect an area and identify the type of pest causing the problem. Once identified, they design and carry out the pest management plan that will eliminate the type of pest found. In determining the best pest management plan, the technician must be familiar with a wide range of pests, chemicals and control strategies and be able to come up with what would work best in the situation at hand. Types of buildings include single family homes, multi- family buildings, commercial buildings, warehouses, restaurants, and any other type of structure having an infestation. Ultimately the job is to control, manage and remove these creatures from the property to protect people and maintain the structural integrity of the building. Pests Included but not Limited to: Native Subterranean Termites Reticulitermes & Coptotermes ( Formosan) Roaches Mice / Rats Ants Fleas Wasps Silverfish Job Duties Include but not Limited to: Inspect building and its premises for signs of pests and infestation Determine the type of treatment needed to eliminate pest Design and carry out pest management plans Remove unwanted pest from building and surrounding areas using a variety of methods Use baits and set traps to remove, control or eliminate pests Apply pesticides in and around buildings and other structures Measure the dimensions of area needing treatment and estimate cost of service Drive trucks equipped with power spraying equipment Operate various types of power spraying equipment Dig / Trench around homes and drill through concrete to apply chemicals Crawl under homes to inspect piers and other areas Go into attics and other tight spaces to perform inspections Work directly with clients and explain the treatment being done Follow a daily schedule and keep notes on each job performed Work with the office to ensure all client records are kept up to date Maintain truck by keeping it clean, stocked with all necessary tools and chemicals and notifying the office of any issues at hand Requirements Needed but not Limited to: Louisiana Drivers License Class E – Private Vehicle with an insurable driving record ( Motor Vehicle Record Check will be required and will be ran through our insurance company ) Social Security Card or valid work permit showing you can legally work in the United States of America Ability to pass the Louisiana Department of Agriculture test to become a Structural Pest Control Technician. Study guide will be provided. Test must be taken and passed within a reasonable amount of time once hired. Employee will receive field training while working but will need to study on their own time as well to pass test. Test will be paid for by company however if you fail the test, it will be your responsibility to pay to retake it. Willingness and ability to constantly learn and maintain information received on the various types of pest control methods, pests, chemicals, and all other types of information required in order to properly complete job duties. Ability to attend continuing education programs as needed for recertification each year. High School Diploma or Equivalent Clean background check with no felonies or serious misdemeanors Ability to pass a drug test and be alcohol free when working Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to work in all types of weather Stamina to work 40 hours per week in a position that is very physical Ability to crawl under low homes and tight spaces in attics Ability to work with a variety of equipment and chemicals Willingness to learn and able to take direction from office and superior in field Strong communication, analytical and observational skills Clean appearance and nice demeanor. Ability to work directly with clients and be friendly and courteous to each customer so that they have the best experience possible. Additional Notes: We are looking for someone that wants a career. Someone that will be dedicated and passionate about their job. This company was started in 1981 and has been ran by family for years. At this point, we have grown and would like to bring someone in to be part of the family and help us keep this company alive. The person we are looking for is willing and able to work Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is at-will employment with a 90 day probationary period. After 90 days, we give you paid federal holidays ( see list for which ones ) and you will accrue sick leave. After 1 year you will get paid vacation time. We all enjoy our time off so we do not work nights or weekends however there is an opportunity for overtime if wanted during the busy season and occasional work may be asked on a Saturday. We are looking for someone that is not full of excuses and will be at work on time and will work hard while on the clock.
