Stellar Fashion Academy will be hosting an educational course and NYC Garment District tour. Course & Tour Purpose: You’ll learn the fundamentals of apparel manufacturing, from concept to finished product, and gain valuable contacts to make your fashion dreams a reality. You'll receive a digital step-by-step guide including a terminology glossary and a list of 20 resources (suppliers & factories). Course CurriculumDesigning - We’ll debunk the myth that you have to know how to sketch to be a designer. I’ll walk you through effective methods that can take your creative ideas to physical samples.Branding - We’ll review the core elements of building a brand.Merchandising - Learn how to create a merchandising matrix and how to build a collection. We’ll also cover how to set pricing and what a healthy profit margin is.Product Development - Learn how to source fabrics and trims. We’ll review the pattern making and sample making processes.Production - Learn about supply-chain management and how to bulk produce your line.Business Formation - Learn how to make your business a legal entity and receive the business startup checklist.NYC Garment District TourDuring the tour you’ll gain a valuable network of contacts including multiple fabric and trim wholesalers, label/tag supplier, t-shirt/hoodie printer, embroiderer (hats & apparel), pattern maker, cutting/sewing factory and marking/grading. This is a walking tour so it is recommended to wear comfortable shoes. All attendees are required to wear a mask throughout the class and tour. Following the curriculum there will be a Q&A. Each attendee will receive a digital certificate of completion. About the InstructorZapora Williams is a seasoned professional with over 15 years of experience in the fashion industry. She studied fashion design and received her degree in Apparel Manufacturing Management at The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles, California. She now resides in NYC and has managed the product development & production and consulted for brands such as Ralph Lauren, Steve Madden, SoulCycle, Disney, Macy’s, Yeezy, Trukfit, ZAIME, House of Chic and many more.
