SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Two North Shore actresses are set to appear in the Spotlight Playhouse's virtual performance of "Waiting for the Host" to debut on May 7.
Marblehead's Susan Parker and Swampscott's Rebecca Greene are set to be part of the play by New York author Marc Palmieri.
Set amid the 2020 plague, the rector of a small Long Island church decides to push forward with the traditional Easter Passion Play. The production is billed as a "light comedy with a little dirty laundry and some ecclesiastical secrets" that brings the church group, and the audience, painfully close amid the socially distant interaction as it explores interconnection and spirituality in a difficult time.
The play was specifically written for the online medium as part of the "new normal."
Tickets are $20 with each ticket allowing multiple audience members from a single device. Showtimes are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Palmieri will conduct a question-and-answer session with the online audience following the Friday show.
