SWAMPSCOTT, MA — The next offering in the Museum of Newport Irish History's lecture series will focus on an Irish immigrant family's experience on the North Shore. The fifth talk in the 19th annual Michael F. Crowley lecture series scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m. is called "When Harry Met Mary Ann: An Irish Family in an American City" and is based on Dr. Janet Nolan's own family history in Lynn. A professor emerita of history at Loyola Chicago University, where she taught Irish and Irish-American history for nearly a quarter century, Nolan will present the illustrated history of how Irish emigrants climbed into the American middle class. Nolan lived in the Newport area of Rhode Island for a decade after her retirement before relocating to the North Shore. The lecture is free, but reservations are required to receive Zoom login information.
