Description

The following article was found in the Saint Rock Haiti Foundation Spring 2021 newsletter and website. MHS student Megan Colleran, participant in SRHF 29 Day Hike to School! In the 29 days between November 26, 2020 (Thanksgiving) and December 25, 2020, 69 "hikers" walked or hiked a combined 700 miles and raised over $21,000 (surpassing our $15,000 goal) to support Saint Rock Haiti Foundation's education programs. Participants included individuals from across the country, high school students from Medfield and Hingham, Cornell University undergrads, and a strong showing from the Milton staff and volunteers. Saint Rock Haiti Foundation supports the work of five schools in and around the Saint Rock community, opening doors to children for whom education would otherwise be out of reach. Funds from the 29 Day Hike to School will directly impact the availability of education to those in Saint Rock and the surrounding areas. Saint Rock Haiti Foundation's support for these schools includes buying the most basic but crucial supplies such as paper, pencils, and books as well as assuring that teachers are getting paid and trained so that all those within this community can thrive. The participants' enthusiasm underscored how passionate so many of our volunteers and donors are to our mission. Thanks to all who got out there and made a difference, you are very much appreciated.
