PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A woman shot in broad daylight in Park Slope has died, police said. The 52-year-old woman was shot in the head just before 1 p.m. on the corner of St. Marks Place and Fourth Avenue, according to police. She was taken to Methodist Hospital in critical condition, and later succumbed to her injuries, an NYPD spokesperson confirmed around 4 p.m. The shooting brought a swarm of police officers and emergency responders to the intersection for hours Wednesday afternoon as crowds gathered around the taped-off street corner. Police said around 4 p.m. that there was a suspect being questioned about the shooting, which was being investigated as a homicide. There were no arrests yet, an NYPD spokesperson said. At this time there is a suspect being interviewed in regards to a shooting this afternoon at corner of 4th Ave and St.Mark's Place . Investigation is at preliminary stage and further info will be provided at later date.— NYPD 78th Precinct (@NYPD78Pct) April 21, 2021 The shooting is the second in Park Slope's 78th Precinct — where gun violence is much rarer than other parts of the borough — since at least the start of 2021.
