Robert Mascali Drops Out Of Falmouth Select Board Race

FALMOUTH, MA — Robert Mascali has dropped out of the race for the Falmouth Select Board, leaving just two candidates competing for the open seat. Mascali, an attorney with Bourget Law Group in North Falmouth, said he chose not to run in the May 18 election because he thinks he entered the race too late. "When I decided to run for the select board, I thought ten, and think now, that I have the experience and qualifications to be a productive member of the board," Mascali said in a statement. "However, my entry in the race was late, and by that time, a number of residents had already committed their support to one candidate or the other. As a result, I feel it is best for the town for me to step aside at this time and let the voters choose between the two other candidates. I offer both Ms. Scott Price and Mr. Heylin good health and good luck." Incumbent Select Board member Douglas Jones chose not to seek reelection, so Mascali's exit from the race leaves Michael Heylin and Onjale Scott Price competing for the seat. Heylin is a town meeting member for Precinct 5 and has run for several town positions over the years, including for the Select Board, Planning Board and Falmouth Library Board of Trustees. Price is the chief operating officer for Mizar Imaging in Woods Hole. She also serves on the Woods Hole Diversity Advisory Committee and the Falmouth Affordable Housing Committee.
