Description
Each year we ride in solemn remembrance of the tragic deaths and serious injuries to cyclists on America’s roads at the hands of motorists. The International Ride of Silence unites people who ride bicycles and those who love them in solemn remembrance of the tragic deaths and terrible injuries at the hands of motorists. Over 600 cyclists are fatally injured by motor vehicles on America’s roads each year. Learn more about this international event by visiting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joNJ247c8W0 Each year we gather to ride silently for 10 miles on some of the busiest Thousand Oaks roads. Our purpose is to remind and educate drivers to be more attentive and careful when approaching cyclists on our roads. We are traffic too. To ensure our safety, the Ride of Silence is escorted by the Thousand Oaks Sheriff's Department. This year we will be following social distancing guidelines by changing our meeting location to The Oaks Mall parking lot nearest the Pedals & Pints restaurant. Masks will be required of all participants whenever they are not actively riding. To ensure social distancing all riders will be directed to bring their bikes to the departure line immediately. There will be no formal speakers, armbands or paper waivers this year.
