NEWTOWN, CT — A red-tailed hawk, which was shot with an arrow in Newtown earlier this month, continues to recover, as authorities with the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection investigate the incident. The bird is being cared for at Christine's Critters in Weston, which rehabs birds of prey. Nicknamed Arrow Hawk, it was discovered with an arrow through it in early April, and was captured and underwent surgery on April 9. Authorities believe it was shot in the Bogg's Hill Road area in Newtown, reported News 12 Connecticut. The person who shot the hawk could face a felony charge for illegally shooting a bird of prey. Once the bird has recovered, it will be released back into the wild, according to Christine's Critters.
