Description
COLUMBIA, MD — This fall, Howard County's public works department will tackle a stream restoration project in the Village of Long Reach. A virtual public meeting will be held April 29 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the project's plans, which call for stabilizing a portion of the stream located between Thunder Hill Road and Phelps Luck Drive south of Broken Timber Way and Five Fingers Way.
Wood and rock structures will be used along with bio-engineering planting to re-establish a more natural stream, reduce instream erosion and improve water quality. The area disturbed by the construction will be replanted upon project completion.
The informal meeting will include an overview of the design followed by an open discussion. County staff and the project's design consultant will be on hand to answer any questions and gather public comments.
