LAKEWOOD – A Lakewood school went on lockdown on Tuesday after a fifth-grade girl threatened another student with a box cutter, reports say.
The incident happened approximately at 10:25 a.m. when the fifth-grade student at Oak Street Elementary School allegedly threatened another fifth-grade girl, according to The Lakewood Scoop.
The girl was briefly in police custody as police determined whether charges will be filed, the school board's attorney, Michael Izelbuch, told NJ Advance Media.
Inzelbuch told The Lakewood Scoop that the metal detectors were working, but the knife may have been aluminum and undetectable.
The school was locked down for about 15 minutes after the box cutter was confiscated just before 10:30 a.m., Inzelbuch told NJ Advance Media.
