JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO — A dog died after it was thrown from a car Tuesday on Interstate 76 near Sheridan Boulevard, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said. The miniature poodle was thrown from a black Lexus sedan that was heading east on the highway at 1:45 p.m., deputies said. The pup was taken to the Foothills Animal Shelter in critical condition, and later died. "Despite extensive efforts by Foothills Animal Shelter's veterinarian and health care team, as well as the health care team of an emergency animal clinic, the dog was unable to be saved and is at peace," the Jeffco Sheriff's Office said in a tweet posted just after 10 p.m. "Thank you for your offers to help and your support of Foothills."
