Job Description Learn how to install solar as a solar installer apprentice. This Apprenticeship allows you to learn this lucrative trade while being paid from day one. Apprentices will receive on-the-job training and classroom instruction to prepare apprentices for a NABCEP PV Associate credential. NABCEP professionals are highly sought after and have higher opportunities for advancement. Responsibilities * Read plan sets and understands basic PV construction * Understands rooftop concepts and materials for energy product installation and maintenance work including modules, mounting hardware, and conduit fitting * Understands how to appropriately manage time and complete tasks with a sense of urgency * Perform routine mechanical installation of solar racking systems and panels in an outdoor environment * Conduct site maintenance daily, wearing safety equipment, to install, and inspect, solar racking and panels * Ensure all PPE, tools, and equipment assigned to the employee are accounted for, maintained in good condition, repaired or replaced as required. * Read, understand and sign all safety procedures. * Attend weekly safety meetings. * Receive, inspect, and maintain all required PPE. * Complete all required NABCEP Associate PV training Required Skills * Demonstrate integrity, strong initiative, work ethic, as well as a focus on safety and quality of work on a continuous basis * Willing to travel up to 50% of the time. * Ability to understand directions, follow procedures, and complete tasks with minimal oversight * Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a drug test and background check * Excellent customer service and strong written and verbal communication skills * Computer skills preferred * Excellent attendance is essential for the team to achieve success * Excellent customer service and strong written and verbal communication skills * Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment * Excellent problem-solving skills * Ability to safely handle hand tools and power tools as well as materials such as: ladders, inverters, solar panels, panel boards, batteries, and other similar electrical equipment, lumber, roofing materials, etc. Physical Requirements * Must be able to work at heights including on rooftops, climbing ladders, and stairs * Must be able to work in inclement weather * Prolonged periods of repetitious duties including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods * Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds frequently * Must meet all OSHA standards for working at heights including: Ability to climb and utilize equipment on-site including various ladders rated for 325lbs. * Must meet OSHA fall protection standards for at-height work limited at 310lbs. Standard 1926.502(d)(16)(v): * Must be able to meet equipment standards for fall protection (harness, anchor, ropes, etc.) with a maximum capacity of 310bs.
